Circuit Bent Electronics (Texas Instruments Speech Synthesizer)
Giorgio Magnanensi creates new instruments by modifying educational speech synthesizer toys from the 70’s and early 80’s.
Giorgio Magnanensi writes —
“Originally developed as educational toys in the 70’s and early 80’s, these machines made use of the first commercial form of voice synthesis, which make them ideal for manipulation through circuit bending. Through the modifications of their circuits one can create feedback loops, sound glitches and various kinds of distortions and drones. After the circuit bending process the instruments are equipped with various kinds of switches, knobs and potentiometers that together with the original boards, activate and control the various sound functions of the machines and the new sound features.”
